Privacy

Our approach

Güggli helps adults have spontaneous one-to-one video or text conversations without creating an account. It does not ask for your name, email address, profile, or social-media account. It is independently operated from Switzerland. We do not record calls, store live text messages, sell personal information, or use advertising or cross-site tracking.

Information used to make the service work

Your browser asks for camera and microphone access only when you start a call. The video and audio are sent between call participants using WebRTC; Güggli does not store call media. Live text messages are delivered through the real-time connection and are not stored by Güggli.

We create an anonymous browser session to place you in the matching queue and establish a match. Its ID and a secret used to protect it are stored in your browser's local storage. Your age confirmation is also stored there. Our matching service processes the conversation mode, selected interests, session and match status, and timestamps. If you report someone, we store the report reason and a block record so that the two anonymous sessions are not matched again.

To establish a conversation, our real-time provider processes room and WebRTC signalling information such as offers, answers, and connection candidates. Our hosting and infrastructure providers may also process standard technical request data, including IP address, browser, and request-time information, to deliver and secure the service. Güggli records only a small set of operational call events (for example, a connection retry or failure), without a call ID, session ID, media, or message content.

Sharing and network information

We use Supabase for the anonymous matching database and real-time signalling, and Vercel to host and run the service. WebRTC can disclose network information, including an IP address, to the person you call and to the connectivity services used to establish the connection. Do not share personal, financial, or sensitive information with a stranger.

Anonymous traffic analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate traffic, such as page views, referrers, broad location, device type, browser, and operating system. Vercel states that this analytics service does not use cookies or cross-site identifiers, and that its daily visitor hash is discarded after 24 hours. Güggli does not send custom analytics events and excludes anonymous chat-room URLs from analytics. You can turn anonymous analytics off below at any time.

What Güggli does not control

Güggli does not verify participants' identities or continuously monitor, record, or review conversations. Each participant chooses what to share and how to behave. The report option ends the current match and avoids a future match between the same anonymous sessions; it is not real-time moderation or an emergency service.

Why we use and keep this information

We use this information to provide matching and conversations, keep the service secure, prevent repeated unwanted matches, investigate reports, and meet legal obligations. Browser storage remains until you clear it in your browser. Matching, safety, and technical records are kept only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes; no call media or live text messages are retained by Güggli.

Cookies and your choices

Güggli does not use advertising cookies. Vercel Web Analytics is cookieless. Güggli uses browser local storage for the anonymous session, your age confirmation, and—if you change it—your analytics preference. You can remove these by clearing Güggli's site data in your browser. Camera and microphone access remains under your browser's control and can be revoked in its settings.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability of personal data, and to complain to your local data-protection authority. For a privacy question or request, email vbecodr@gmail.com. As Güggli has no account, name, or email address linked to an anonymous session, an email request alone may not let us safely identify a particular record. We will respond with the information we can identify and explain if no data can be linked to the request.

We may update this notice when the service or its providers change. The date above shows when it was last revised.
